Wii-astrophe 2008

Loving Santa left the kids a Wii for Christmas this year and while we have been having a blast playing, I have been having to take Motrin for my shoulder after a few rounds of Tennis with Taylor. So today Taylor again wants me to play Wii tennis with him, I agree but with hesitation, because I knew I was going to be sore afterwards. He gets the game all set up and we start playing. Tatum, is playing around us with the cane that Matt's dad used. Taylor and I were in a heavy volley of back and forth when he swung a backhand and as he was doing that Tatum decided that she would swing the cane. Cane meet Taylor's hand in a full on tennis backhand. He dropped to the floor immediately screaming in pain. I took one look at his and thought it was broken. His finger was crooked and his knuckle was sunken in like it had been crushed. I just knew it was broken. After getting him settled down and looking at it further, it looked like his finger was just dislocated. I got him to try and squeeze his hand into a fist and that seemed to do the trick and pop his finger back in place. So after splinting it and keeping ice on it, I think he will make it.

I was trying to figure out how we were going to explain this to the ER doctors, if he was to go have it x-rayed!

How sad is it that we hurt ourselves and get sore from pretending to play a sport. I mean, its make-believe.

OK, now I have to try the tennis! I've gotten sucked in to bowling and all the Fit games that I haven't attempted tennis yet. I'll make sure the kids don't come after me with a cane, though. ;)
