We went to see Jay this morning and he was very agitated. He was so ready to get out of the hospital and was a little upset when they told him it would be Monday. The neuro came in and said he was doing better than most patients that have this type of surgery. He said he didn't see why he couldn't go to the hotel today. Then the nurse came in and said, nope, it would be Monday. Then the other surgeon came in and said, yes he could go. Jay's attitude changed 180 degrees when he found that out. He was chipper and excited. We decided to go eat some lunch while they got all the paperwork lined up. We headed to The Grove and ate lunch and then headed back to the hospital to get Jay. Once we got into the hotel room, Jay completely shaved his head. They had pretty much shaved the side of this head where they went in, but he had a crazy hair style. He decided that he would just shave it off. He asked Laurie and I if we would shave our hair off with him for sympathy!
Here he is with his newly shaven head!

His "wicked" scar. His words not mine.
The doctors told Jay that he still has a lot of swelling around the nerves and fluid in his hear. He is not able to hear anything yet, but they said that only a hearing test would be able to tell. They did not do a hearing test today before he left. They will do one at his follow-up appointment on Thursday. He said he hears crackling and stuff in that ear which is probably due to the fluid. The doctors are hopeful that once the swelling and the fluid leaves that he will be able to hear. Again, we will know more with the hearing test and once the swelling goes down. Please keep praying that his hearing returns to normal.
After we got Jay settled into the hotel room it was off to do something fun so that Jay could rest and the boys and Tatum could burn energy. Here you see the Hollywood Blvd. and Beverly Blvd. signs.

We were on Sunset Blvd.

Heading to the Griffith Observatory. This place is very cool. It rained this morning and it seemed to clear out the smog, so this was the first day that we actually saw blue skies and the snow capped mountians around us. The Griffith is located on top of the Hollywood Hills just below the Hollywood sign. You can see for miles and miles of Los Angeles.

Tatum poses with the Hollywood sign behind her.

The famous Hollywood sign.

The city of Los Angeles from the Observatory.

Tomorrow we are headed to Hollywood to see the Stars and then on to Malibu to check out Taylor's future college, Pepperdine! I am going to convince that child yet that he would love that college!
I do have one thing to say about California. The traffic is AWFUL!! I mean seriously think rush hour traffict 24/7. Drivers here are not Texas friendly and use their horns more than New Yorkers. Also another thing that would probably make things less complicated is the use of Left turn arrows. I mean seriously, how can you be the second largest city in the U.S. and not have left turn arrows. We have made more right turns in this city, because trying to make a left turn without and arrow, is just asking to be hit!
We hope that your week is a good one. We are counting our blessings here!

Your family, this trip, this blog of Jay's surgery are such a testimony of God's love and power - a "sermon" on a blog. Please know that prayers go up from the hills of Arkansas and we know that God hears them!
